Assistant Managing Editor - Alberta
We are looking for a highly motivated assistant managing editor with strong management and organizational skills, exceptional writing talent, a meticulous approach to work, and a razor-sharp news sense.

Reporting to the managing editor, you will assist in setting the local news agenda with the aim of maximizing StarMetro’s position as the trusted and timely information source for all of Alberta.
The location of this role will be based in Edmonton.
This entry-level management job requires some experience mentoring young reporters to improve skills such as, but not limited to, pitching stories, interviewing sources on high-stakes stories, and crafting complex stories with an eye toward reaching a new digital audience.
You will play a key role in the development of powerful, in-depth, and compelling stories of the events and issues affecting the everyday lives of people in Alberta, with a special focus on enterprise reporting. You are brilliant at strengthening reporters’ stories and have a proven track record for engaging audiences through on-the-ground storytelling and analysis of the events shaping daily their lives.
You are able to multi-task like a champion. You like to work collaboratively.
